Beanie Will Play
October 10th, 2007

In his press conference this week, Coach Tressel indicated that Chris Wells will play this week based on the notion that team doctors say playing will not make his ankle worse.  Brandon Saine had no issues after the Purdue game and will see more carries against Kent State.  However, Ross Homan's injury could keep him out a few more weeks.

Medical Updates Prior to Purdue Week
October 6th, 2007

Brandon Saine - He has been out of the line-up since his surgery on September 21st, but he has traveled with the team for the Purdue and is expected to see limited action.

Todd Denlinger - he suffered an injury this week in practice and is listed as 'day-to-day'.  He will make the trip to Purdue.

Ross Homan - He sat out the Minnesota game and will miss the Purdue game as well with an 'unspecified injury'

Curtis Terry - Has missed the entire season due to a high ankle sprain.  Coach Tressel officially announced this week that he will take a medical redshirt this year.

Brandon Saine should be available for Purdue
October 2, 2007

Yesterday, Ohio State coach Jim Tressel said he thought there was no chance backup tailback Brandon Saine would be available for the fourth-ranked Buckeyes’ Saturday night game at No.20 Purdue. Today, in his weekly media press conference, he said the freshman speedster, who underwent arthroscopic knee surgery 11 days ago, hit the ground running full speed in a rehab workout yesterday afternoon.

"I was prepared to say he was out (for this week), but I don’t know that that is true now," Tressel said.

Tressel said no player who hobbled out and then back into the game at Minnesota is expected to miss this week, and that list included Robiskie, Beanie Wells, safety Anderson Russell and backup fullback Tyler Whaley. Plus, reserve cornerback Andre Amos has been cleared to return to full contact after recovering from a knee injury suffered in the spring.

Lawrence Wilson May Return For Bowl Game
September 27, 2007

For those on the Lawrence Wilson health watch, it was reported today that he is now off his crutches and is presently going through water treadmill as well as ice and electric therapy.  Without any specific commitment, there is a chance he will be available for the bowl game.  Of course, Lawrence and Ohio State will need to weigh that against the opportunity to give him a medical red-shirt this year.

Wilson Recovery Begins
September 5, 2007

Don't hold your breath on Lawrence Wilson....

Dr. Mark reports that "typical" tibia fractures requiring surgical repair with pins or plates often take eight PLUS weeks before re-hab can even start.  That would put a player lost early in the season almost at the end of regular season before they could even start rehab.  Rehab might typically take several more weeks at least on top of the recovery time.  This then begs a question of the possibility of a medical red-shirt for someone.  The good news is that it is typically not a career ending injury.
