OSU Falls Short Against Michigan

The OSU Women's volleyball team took on 15th ranked Michigan in St Johns Arena Saturday night, losing a heart fought match. The Buckeyes managed to have the lead at several points but ultimately lost the match 30-27, 30-27, 30-28.

Did You Know: Just How Popular is Volleyball Nationally?

Nebraska will host Hawaii at the Bob Devaney Sports Center Sunday night at 5:00 pm. A total of 13,136 advance tickets have been sold for Sunday’s match, the most ever for a regular-season college volleyball match. Students are able to watch Sunday’s match for free if they bring a valid student ID to the Devaney Center on Sunday afternoon.

Ohio State Falls to #8 Wisconsin

OSU was held to .098 hitting against the badgers. The only other time they hit below .100 was against #2 Penn State when they hit .080. They were also out blocked 14.5 for the badgers while only getting 5.5 themselves. OSU was tied in the 3rd 8-8 before the badgers went on a run to end the match.
OSU plays Sunday 2:00 Eastern against Illinois. This will be the first time this season they will go against the Illini. On Friday night, the Illini lost to #2 Penn State 28-30 25-30 30-19 30-28 10-15. They are now 12-7 on the season and 4-5 in the conference while OSU is now 8-10 on the season 2-7 in the conference.

OSU lead from the start of game 5 until it was tied up 14-14 and finally pulling out a 30-26 30-24 29-31 22-30 17-15 victory to improve to 9-10 over all and 3-7 in the conference.

Goeff Carlston has been named coach of the Ohio State women's volleyball team. He is replacing Jim Stone who announced his retirement mid-season after 25 years. Carlston spent the past five years as coach of the Ohio University Bobcats. During that time, he led the Bobcats to five NCAA tournament appearances, won five MAC titles, compiling a 144-22 record.
